Target cartwheel is doing backflips
Cartwheel is an app for Target savings. As we all know Target is not doing so well, however when it comes to the Cartwheel app, Target hit this one out of the park. Cartwheel not only offers savings to the customer it allows for Target to "customer profile." As customers use Cartwheel, it creates a database and from there the customer is targeted based on his/her profile. Specific savings are targeted towards individuals that are more likely to buy the given product. From customer profiling there is predictive modeling, once the precedent is set the database can now predict what the customer will want in the future. As Cartwheel is being used by the consumer to save money on their daily needs, behind the scenes Cartwheel is building a profile on each customer to target them in the future to spend more money. This one Target is well played!

The Cartwheel app was a great way for Target to revamp their brand and focus on their customers’ wants and needs. Providing a way for customers to not only save money shopping but to have offers specifically tailored to their purchasing history and profile is a great way to make it efficient for a customer to consume the offers because they are offers they actually want. Target is not only making their customers happy and hopefully building brand loyalty to retain customers, but they are gathering valuable information about each customers purchasing habits as well as making money. I agree with Lisa that Target hit it out of the park with this app.

I agree with you that Target used multi-media (website and mobile app) very effectively with the introduction of the Cartwheel app. They have bridged the gap between consumer and marketer by providing a convenient and seamless shopping experience for the customer as well as engineered the data collection process in order to collect and analyze material information to better serve their customers. Hopefully, the recent layoffs at the Corporate Headquarters did not include those who designed and maintain this awesome app.
